Dan snap ik het nog niet. Je schrijft dat je een contract te zien kreeg waarin stond dat je de tank benzine al betaald had. En dat je hem leeg moest inleveren. En je kreeg nu een rekening omdat je hem vol had ingeleverd? Wat voor een pakket had je afgesloten bij Dollar?

I. Gasoline Policy: The renter must refill the gas tank of the vehicle within a 10-mile radius of the rental return facility and present a fuel receipt to avoid a refueling charge unless the renter chooses the prepaid fuel option. If the renter chooses the prepaid fuel option, the renter will pay a specified charge as set forth in the rental agreement and have no obligation to return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. There is no credit or refund given for any fuel in the tank at the end of the rental. If the renter does not choose the prepaid fuel option and does not return the vehicle with a full tank of gas, the renter will be required to pay a fuel charge to compensate DOLLAR for the cost and service of refueling the vehicle. The fuel charge is based on the estimated number of gallons needed to refill the tank multiplied by the rate per gallon charge specified in the rental agreement. DOLLAR locations may use different methods of estimating the number of gallons needed to refill the tank and these methods of estimation necessarily rely on human judgment. Most DOLLAR locations estimate the number of gallons needed to refill the gas tank either (1) by reading the fuel gauge to estimate the approximate amount of fuel needed to refill the tank (for example, one-half tank) and multiplying that number by the manufacturer's specified fuel tank capacity, or (2) if the renter did not purchase any fuel during the rental, by reading the odometer to determine the amount of miles driven during the rental and dividing that number by the vehicle's estimated average fuel efficiency (miles per gallon) based on the manufacturer's fuel efficiency specifications. When renting in Canada, miles and gallons shall be kilometers and liters.

Die dame toonde mij echter een contract waarin stond dat die volle tank al wel inbegrepen was.

Ik heb vorig jaar via Expedia een Dollar auto gehad. (MCO)
Het was precies zoals hierboven door Njit gepost, volle tank bij afhalen en of vol terug met bewijs van aftanken of per gallon afvullen betalen.

Dan snap ik het nog niet. Als je de tank benzine al betaald hebt dan mág je de auto leeg inleveren maar het móet niet. Zou wel erg krom zijn in mijn ogen..

De verwarring ontstaat door twee mogelijkheden:
1 volle tank bij afhalen, maar nog niet betaald en dus vol terug of verbruik betalen.
(Dit had ik dus)
2 volle tank bij afhalen en al in huursom betaald of (misschien ook nog mogelijk, lijkt mij uit de posting van JBdutch) ter plekke bij afhalen betalen en dan zo leeg mogelijk terug.

In beide gevallen krijg je de auto dus afgetankt mee.
Ik denk dat JBdutch daar in de fout gaat met zijn postings.

Maar 'leeg' terug is een geen verplichting indien je optie 2 hebt. Het is niet zo dat je dan maar rondjes moet gaan rijden om de tank leeg te maken. Je krijgt enkel geen geld terug voor de benzine die er nog inzit.

Ik denk dat de fout er al in ligt dat hij dus blijkbaar niet wist wat er in zijn contract stond. Je moet toch echt zelf goed opletten welk contract je afsluit met de verhuurder.

En op een eerder bericht omtrent het betalen van brandstof bij het omruilen van een auto als er een gebrek mee is, daar heb ik nog nooit voor een tank brandstof hoeven te betalen. Maar ik huur dan ook altijd met volle tank benzine vooraf betaald.

Ik wist wel dat het niet in mijn voorwaarden stond maar deze dame hield vol dat de eerste tank altijd inclusief was als de auto bij expedia geboekt werd.na een lange reis geef je het wat sneller op.mijn punt is dat de medewerker altijd zal proberen om iets extra's aan je te verkopen ook als je nergens op in gaat.

Mijn ervaringen bij Dollar op dit punt zijn vele malen beter dan bij Alamo, waarbij ik elke keer werd lastig gevallen omtrent upgrades en extra verzekeringen. Afgelopen week bij Dollar hoefde ik slechts te tekenen en werd er helemaal niets geprobeerd aan te smeren.

Maar ik blijf erbij dat je zelf altijd moet weten hoe je contract in elkaar zit en anders altijd gewoon "all inclusif" moet huren.

Mijn ervaringen bij Dollar op dit punt zijn vele malen beter dan bij Alamo, waarbij ik elke keer werd lastig gevallen omtrent upgrades en extra verzekeringen.
