    Standaard Kerstmis / Oud en nieuw in Miami e.o.

    Hallo allemaal,

    zoals al eerder beschreven zitten wij met kerst + oud en nieuw in Florida. Nu zou ik graag aan jullie willen vragen of er iemand is die ons kan adviseren waar te dineren op kerstavond.
    We zitten dan in het Hyatt te Fort Lauderdale en willen een gelegenheid waar het lekker eten is, een gelegendheid die geschikt is om zoonlief mee naar toe te nemen (hij is wel wat gewend;-) maar ook betaalbaar en een beetje leuk publiek (bijvoorkeur dus niet alleen de grijze golf :shock: )

    Hoop dat jullie tips hebben zodat we op tijd kunnen reserveren

    Een goede vriend van mij zat een paar jaar geleden met kerst in Orlando met vrouw en kids, en ze hadden dus speciaal voor de kerst een restaurant geboekt en nette kleren meegenomen, maar dat viel allemaal heel erg tegen.
    Gewoon geen speciaal menu, en alle Amerikanen gewoon in korte broek en T-shirt.
    Wil je echt chique eten dan is denk ik Victoria & Alberts een goede keus, maar dat is volgens mij erg duur.
    Ik heb verder geen idee waar je moet zijn, maar stel je er niet te veel van voor. (Wel van de kerstfeer in Disney hoor, die is geweldig).

    Of ze iets speciaals doen met Kerst, weet ik niet, maar het Mai Kai restaurant is heel leuk, ook voor kinderen. Het eten is er lekker en de show speciaal. Iedere keer als we in de omgeving van Ft. Lauderdale zijn moeten we er van de kinderen heen (en voor ons ook geen straf).

    Standaard Christmas Boat Parade

    Zoek eens op Christmas Boat Parade. Er is namelijk een zeer geslaagde boten parade op de intercoastal in Ft. Lauderdale. Dit kan, financieel, zeer uit de hand lopen maar zelf ga ik al een aantal jaren naar de 15th. Street Fishery en dat kan heel gezellig zijn. Denk ook eens aan de Blue Moon Fishing Company of Ristorante Opa in Noord Ft. Lauderdale.
    Ben nu even zelf op vakantie, maar ik zal zeker terug komen op dit onderwerp. Kerstmis is een beetje anders dan in Nederland... Maar als je de juiste plekjes weet is het best te doen. Bijvoorbeeld een 30 Meter hoge kerstboom in Delray Beach. Een year round kerstmis winkel in boca raton. Een geweldige licht show in Deerfield Beach.

    btw. Albuquerque is ook leuk vooral als het jaarlijkse ballon festival er is.

    gave restaurants om lekker te eten. vooral de blue moon en 15th street staan ons bijzonder aan.
    Gaan we ons even verder in verdiepen. Welke zou jij aanraden van de twee als je je zoontje van 9 meeneemt? Hoop dat er een kids menu is :wink:

    Van een aantal leden heb ik vernomen dat ze rond de kerst in de buurt van Ft. Lauderdale vertoeven. Ik zal jullie hier op de hoogte houden van de lokale evenementen.

    The 34th Annual Boat Parade begins at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale at 6:30 p.m. and traveling North up the Intracoastal Waterway for 10 miles to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach .     Christmas on Las Olas Celebrates 40 Years with a “Month” of Holiday Happenings

    Enjoy the arrival of the most enchanting season of the year - South Florida style! Join the spectacular 40-year old holiday tradition, Christmas on Las Olas on Tuesday, November 29th from 6 pm - 10 pm, when Las Olas Boulevard will be closed to traffic from SE 6th Avenue to SE 11th Avenue. The event is free and open to the public.

    Wander among the wonders of the fabulous Las Olas Boulevard shop & restaurants. Hear our children sing at the Publix entertainment arenas and the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino stage, enjoy magical animated lit displays, delight to tasty holiday treats, thrill to rides down Starbucks Snow Mountain, have a photo taken with Santa, courtesy of the 50th anniversary of Holy Cross Hospital and visit with the Winterfest gang at the Hideaway Marina display.

    This year, the fun and excitement continue throughout the month of December, every Tuesday evening (December 6, 13, 20 & 27) from 6 pm - 10 pm, with Holiday Happenings, a myriad of entertainment for all ages. See Santa at the Riverside Hotel, follow street entertainers, visit a real gingerbread house at Stork’s and listen to story hours at Flora Ottimer’s Children’s Boutique.     On Tuesday, December 13th, celebrate Fiesta de Reyes, the 10th annual Three Kings Festival, sponsored by El Heraldo de Broward, for the benefit the Light of the World Clinic. Latin foods will be for sale including pan de lechon, rice, plantains, beans, specialty fruit drinks and holiday sweets. Arts & crafts gift items, from a number of Latin and South American countries, will be for sale and lend to the holiday spirit. Free salsa lessons, salsa and merengue bands, folkloric shows and holiday stylings by teen vocalist, Eana enhance the evening.

    On Tuesday, December 20th, enjoy a specially created tour for each audience segment. The kid’s tour begins with a passport at the Publix booth on Las Olas Boulevard and SE 6th Avenue, followed by visits to Santa at the Riverside Hotel, Flora Ottimer’s Story Hour, listening to carolers at Kilwin’s, visiting the Fort Lauderdale’s Children’s Theater area to do a craft project, Moda Capelli Designs for hot cocoa, and Stork’s to see a gingerbread house. All children completing the kids tour with stamped passports will receive a gift courtesy of Publix.

    The “How Do I Look?” clothier & accessories tour takes fashionistas to Indigo Palms, American Soul, Dazzles, LF Stores, ManKind, Tommy Bahama and Yellow Strawberry Salon, to see the hottest styles and to sample the trendiest wines, courtesy of Premier Beverage. A free prize awaits, at Dazzles, for those who complete the tour.

    Art and home decor aficionados will enjoy the art, antiques & more tour. It begins and ends with a stop at the historic Stranahan House followed by at Shades of Light, Casa Chameleon, Las Olas Fine Arts, the Condo Company and New River Fine Art. There will be complimentary wine tastings by Premier Beverage at each stop. Those who complete either adult tour, with stamped card, will be eligible to win a Premier liquor basket of goodies.

    On Tuesday, December 27th, join in the celebration as children of all ages thrill to the second night of the age-old eight-night Festival of Lights ... Chanukah. Ron Dagan, premier Israeli entertainer, will host the event. The lighting of a "giant" menorah, an interactive musical game, singers and Israeli dancers will be in the spotlight. Crafts and delicious ethnic food, with the favorite holiday treat, latkes, will also be sold.

    Fort Lauderdale's finest stores and restaurants, along fabulous Las Olas Boulevard, are available to fill out this fun, family evening. Event partners include Becker and Poliakoff, PA- Hollywood, United Jewish Community of Broward County, Chabad Lubavitch of Fort Lauderdale, Temple Kol-Ami, Temple Emanu-el-Plantation, Temple Beth Ahm-Israel-Cooper City, Downtown Chabad and Congregation Amchah.
