Geheimen in Walt Disney World

ik weet niet of het al ergens staat vermeld of misschien weet iedereen dit al, maar vond het toch leuk om hierop te plaatsen...

This list is just a sampling of some of the best kept secrets of the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. There are plenty more to add to this list, but these are just a few of our favorites:
1. Visit Tink’s Treasures (a little shop in the Magic Kingdom) to get a glimse of Tink. There is a dresser by the door. If you peek inside the upper left keyhole, you may just see Tink. If you are one of the first guests in the store when the park opens in the morning, you may just be able to wake her up.
2. Find the hidden paintbrushes on Tom Sawyer’s Island. Take them to a cast member and receive a fast pass. <<tot 2012>>
3. Take a closer look at the Cinderella Fountain. Find the water fountain to the left of Cinderella Castle as you exit the rear (and next to Tinker Bell’s Treasures). It has Cinderella in it holding a bird. Stand directly in front of Cinderella and curtsy to her, you will see the gold crown behind her painted onto the wall go onto her head. The purpose? To explain the story of Cinderella in just one glance - rags to riches.
4. Check out this spooky spot at the Haunted Mansion. This attraction has so many neat little details that might go unnoticed to the not so careful observer. I could do a whole post on this attraction alone, but I’ll just mention one here. At the entrance just before you go inside the last tombstone (for Madame Leota) has eyes on it that open for just an instant. (Be careful not to point this one out to young kids who may already be apprehensive about riding. This freaked my daughter out a little on our last trip and she may never go on this classic ride again! )
5. Check out the windows on the second floor buildings on Main Street. The names on the windows up above are the names of persons responsible for building the park. Some names are of dummy corporations (e.g. M.T. Lott) formed to purchase the land for WDW back in the 1960’s while keeping it all a secret. Walt Disney? His name is above the ice cream shop since his brother Roy gave him the best office, that faces the castle.
6. Stop by Tony’s Town Square Restaurant to see a tribute to Lady and the Tramp. See the pups’ pawprints in front of the restaurant at the front of Main St. At the back of the restaurant dining room, there is a beautiful 3-paned dark blue window, through which you can see the shadowy silhouettes of Lady and the Tramp sharing their late-night meal of spaghetti.
7. Check out the spitting camel in Adventureland. It is a lot of fun to just watch people being sprayed by the spitting camel right by Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride. It makes some good entertainment while you are taking a break to eat a Dole Whip.
8. Find Tink outside Big Thunder Railroad Mountain. Most people are aware of the many hidden Mickey’s spread throughout Walt Disney World, but here you can find a hidden Tinkerbell. Walk to the exit from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Behind the fence (on the left side as you exit the ride), between two metal carts and behind a cactus is a cutout in the reddish rock that resembles a side profile of Tinkerbell.
9. Look for the talking trash can in Tomorrowland. Every hour or so, the talking trashcan named Push comes out of Mickey’s Star Traders. He roams for about 20 minutes and is definitely worth keeping an eye out to see.
10. Find the American dolls on It’s a Small World. Hint: There are only 2 dolls that represent America–the Eskimo and the Cowboy.
11. See if you can hear Stitch outside the castle. Find the ledge on the side of the castle and take a seat. If you are quiet you may be able to hear Stitch giggle and tell you to be quiet because he’s hiding.
12. Get your styled in the barber shop on Main Street. Ok, this one is on the map and it is the only thing that does have a nominal cost, but I thought it was worth putting on the list. Stop by the barber shop (they don’t take appointments so you may have to wait in line) and ask them to style your hair with colored gel and sprinkle some pixie dust on it. If your hair is short enough you can even get little Mickey’s drawn on there. It costs about $5 and is fun way to get into the Disney spirit.
13. The Kiss Goodnight. Linger behind the Magic Kingdom for about 30 minutes or so after the park closes and you may be (doesn’t happen every night) treated to the “kiss goodnight” from the castle. It is really neat little light show that will end your day on a very nice note.

een tijdje terug had ik hier ergens op het forum gelezen over geheime dingetjes in de parken. Zo stond er ook dat in de la in het kastje in het Tink's Treasures dat Tinkerbell daar verstopt zit. uiteraard heb ik een paar keer gekeken maar ze was er niet. Ik vroeg me af of de geheimpjes nog up to date zijn (overigens kan ik het topic nu niet vinden) en of er nog mensen zijn die nog meer geheimpjes weten.

Ook leuk om te doen is een Disney Tour, daar hebben ze er een paar van. Wij gaan de volgende keer de Keys to the Kingdom doen in Magic Kingdom. Inclusief is dan achter de schermen kijken hoe ze het logistiek/operationeel aanpakken. Je komt ook op de verzamelplaats voordat een parade begint, bezoekt de waterzuiveringsinstallatie en je gaat door de tunnels die onder het park lopen. Lunch zit erbij en het kost $60 pp voor 4,5 tot 5uur.
Wij hebben het boek "The unofficial guide to Walt Disney World 2008" en daar staan zelf nog meer tours (incl. prijzen en duur van het programma) in vermeld dan op de website. Als iemand het wil kan ik het proberen in te scannen.

wij wouden vorige week het eiland opgaan en mijn vriend vroeg of er nog verfborstels verstopt waren ( vaak zeggen castmembers dit om te voorkomen dat je onnodig uren gaat zitten zoeken) en blijkbaar doen ze dit niet meer sinds 2012. Jammer!! Gelukkig hadden wij er dan toch eentje gevonden in 2011
