ORLANDO -- A man was taken into custody Tuesday after a security scare at Orlando International Airport.

A suspicious bag caused a partial shutdown of Terminal A. Some ticket counters, including Virgin Atlantic and Jamaican airlines, were closed.
Virgin Airlines reopened its ticket counter shortly after 3 p.m. Meanwhile, Frontier Air moved its operations from Terminal A to Terminal B.
Carolyn Fennell, an OIA spokeswoman, said the Orlando Police Department was called in, the suspect was identified and arrested.

The suspect's luggage was checked, and prohibited items were identified in his luggage. According to the Orlando Sentinel, pipe bomb materials were found. The man was scheduled to fly on Jamaican Air.

The Transportation Security Administration issued the following statement:
"Around 12:00 p.m., behavior detection officers in Orlando identified a suspicious passenger entering the A terminal. Upon inspection of the individual's checked bag, suspicious items were identified. Law enforcement was notified and the individual has been taken into custody.

A 300-foot perimeter has been established around the checked bag, and parts of A terminal have been evacuated. The bomb squad is currently on site. Flight operations are continuing at this time, and both checkpoints are open."

According to Rod Johnson, a spokesman for the airport, the departures quadrant on the A side of the terminal remained evacuated.
The incident happened as TSA screeners were beginning to use new techniques to focus on suspicious behavior in addition to baggage.

The FBI joined the TSA and Orlando police in investigating the incident.

Vandaag, dinsdag zijn alle terminals weer normaal geopend...

Het verhaal wordt héél hoog opgenomen door de FBI.

Tóch blijft Homeland Security gelukkig op "elevated" staan.
Door de nieuwe gedrags screeners proberen ze juist weer wat rust op de luchthavens te brengen...
