In nederland is de tijd van de diverse ballon feesten weer aangebroken. soms tot meer dan 30 hetelucht ballonnen de lucht in. Met veelal ook een aantal special shapes.

Zijn er ook zulk soort dagen in Florida?

Hier eentje die uit Tampa komt, op ballonfeesten Joure te zien:

Die zullen er ongetwijfeld zijn, maar ik zou niet zo gauw weten hoe en waar.

Misschien kun je het vinden via links van de makers van bovenstaande ballon of van andere ballonfeesten?

Er zijn vaak zoveel leuke evenementen verspreid over Florida, waarvan we eigenlijk niets of nauwelijks iets horen. En toch zijn die vaak zeer de moeite waard. En ze kosten meestal niets.

Pensacola marks its founding and celebrates its rich heritage with outdoor entertainment, parades on both land and water, sand sculpture contests and other fun-filled activities.

This community event in Moosehaven takes place along the St. Johns River and features free children's activities, food, arts & crafts, a parade, entertainment and fireworks. (soort koninginnedag-achtig event)

4 juli 2006 St. Augustine's 4th of July
In St.Augustine (kaart). Entree: gratis.
This celebration along the St. Augustine bayfront features fireworks over the historic Castillo de San Marcos and Matanzas Bay with a soundtrack of patriotic music.

9 juli-20 augustus 2006: Geometric Art Exhibit
In Tarpon Springs (kaart). Entree: gratis.
The Leepa-Ratner Museum of Art in Tarpon Springs hosts A Celebration of Geometric Art, an international exhibit comprised of prints, paintings and sculptures of MADI art.

18-23 juli 2006: Hemingway Days
In Key West (kaart). Entree: onbekend.
Key West honors author Ernest Hemingway, a Key West resident for almost a decade, with readings, book signings, rare memorabilia, marlin fishing and a look-alike contest.

22-24 september 2004: Pensacola Seafood Festival
In Pensacola (Seville Square) (kaart). Entree: gratis.
The Fiesta of Five Flags Association invites one and all to the 29th Annual Pensacola Seafood Festival, on September 22-24, 2006 in the Seville Square area of historic downtown Pensacola. You and your family can enjoy delicious fruits of the sea and a variety of continuous local entertainment at the entertainment stage located in Fountain Park and at the Gazebo in Seville Square. This festival has been consistently recognized as a Top 20 Event in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society.

14-15 oktober 2006: The Creekside Festival

Palm Coast hosts two days of Florida heritage, great music, activities for the entire family, a photo contest, story telling, kayak and walking tours and an arts & crafts fair.

Zaterdag 27 mei wilden we de art deco wijk bezoeken in Miami, maar op dat moment was er een evenement aan de gang. Weet iemand misschien wat hier gaande was want ik ben erg benieuwd. Het had in ieder geval te maken met Rap muziek en ook Memorial weekend. Als iemand hier iets van weet hoor ik dat graag

Ik heb laatst op dit forum de vraag al beantwoord, ik heb er toen het volgende over geschreven:

De Urban Beach Week (ook wel Black Beach Week genoemd) is het grootste Urban Beach Festival in de wereld en wordt dit jaar gehouden van woensdag 24 mei t/m maandag 29 mei. Het speelt zich voornamelijk af Ocean, Collins en Washington Avenue. Vorig jaar waren er zo’n 350.000 bezoekers op het festival. South Beach staat deze dagen in het teken van allerlei festiviteiten, muziek (veel en voornamelijk Hip Hop), eten, modeshows, entertainment en optredens. De African American, Hispanic en Asian cultuur komen samen tijdens dit evenement. Het speelt zich zowel op straat, op het strand als in de clubs af. Er zijn veel straten afgezet tijdens het festival en er is heel veel politie aanwezig (dit omdat het in 2001 uit de hand is gelopen).

Man dies in violence at packed Miami nightclub

MIAMI - A man was fatally stabbed, another was shot and a third was trampled as revelers fled a fight at a packed downtown nightclub early on Memorial Day.

The three Miami men were brought to Jackson Memorial Hospital after police received reports of gunshots at the Metropolis nightclub shortly before 4 a.m., Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss said. Roger Hall, 22, died from stab wounds.

Another man was shot in a thigh and was in good condition after surgery. The third was only bruised and scraped when trampled as patrons tried to flee the club after the shots were fired, Moss said.

Police as yet had no suspects. They estimated more than 1,100 people were at the club.

The violence occurred during Urban Beach Week, which typically draws thousands of fans of hip-hop music and culture to South Florida and Miami Beach in particular over the Memorial Day weekend.

Police arrested 856 people from Thursday to Monday morning, compared with 571 for the entire weekend last year, Miami Beach police spokesman Bobby Hernandez said. Most arrests were for misdemeanors.

Pumpkin king to reign at studios: Tired of watching all those Orlando-area locals (and their wallets) pass on Mickey's not so scary halloween party in favor of Universal Studio's Halloween horror nights, Disney has finally decided to do something about it. Starting in 2007, Disney will present a second Halloween-themed hard-ticket event. This one will be after hours at the Disney MGM Studios on selected nights in October. Jack Skellington, the mournful Pumpkin king from the nightmare before christmas, will be serving as the host of what Disney hopes will be an annual event. Expect the sort of adult thrills and chills that you won't find at Mickey's halloween bash.

Ik vind de film The Nightmare before Christmas namenlijk een erg goeie film, en zo te horen wordt het wel een leuk event.
