Important Information for U.S. - Secure Flight program
Dear Sir or Madam,
The Secure Flight guideline issued by the US authority responsible for aviation safety (Transport Security Administration, TSA), requires airberlin to record information about passengers at the time of booking. This regulation applies to all bookings: bookings via airberlin.com, a travel agency or an online booking system. Provision of this information is mandatory.
Further information about Secure Flight
Minimum information required:
• Full name (as shown on passport)
• Date of birth
• Gender
• Redress number* (if available)
* Passengers who have been mistakenly matched to a name on the watch list are asked to apply for a redress number. This is done under the DHS Travel Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP).
airberlin is required to forward this information to the Transportation Security Administration at least 72 hours prior to departure. If a flight is booked within 72 hours of departure, airberlin will forward the Secure Flight data when the booking is made.
To avoid incurring additional costs and to ensure that passengers can board the aircraft, we request that passengers send us the Secure Flight data at least
96 hours prior to departure.
Important: airberlin reserves the right to refuse carriage to passengers who have not submitted their Secure Flight data.
Bookings via
airberlin.com
When bookings are made online via
airberlin.com the Secure Flight data can be submitted during the booking process. There is a facility of updating the Secure Flight data at a later stage. However,
passengers must ensure that they initially enter the required details at least 96 hours prior to departure.
To do this, re-open the booking on the airberlin website. Click on the link
Booking » Flight » Additional services and you will be asked to enter your transaction number, customer reference number and postal code. You can then re-enter the Secure Flight data.
In addition to the Secure Flight data, other Advanced Passenger Information (API) must be submitted, together with an ESTA travel permit if appropriate. Further details are set out below.
Advanced Passenger Information
All airlines are required to collect personal data for their passengers on flights to and/or from the USA. We would advise travellers to provide these API data (API: Advanced Passenger Information) when making their booking in a travel agency / via a tour operator or by entering the data on the form available at
www.airberlin.com/sf_en when booking online. There is a standard form for entering Secure Flight and API data online and the information provided on this form can be updated at a later stage by resubmitting it.
API data include:
• First name and surname
• Date of birth and gender
• Passport number
• Country where passport was issued
• Expiry date of passport
• Nationality
• Country of residence
• Temporary address where the passenger will be staying during the visit. The address details must include the house number, street, town/village, the relevant country code and postal / zip code.
