Dear Madam, Dear Sir,
I have a question regarding a foreign visitor driving in the US (Florida in this case). I have a normal Dutch drivers licence for driving passenger cars or other vehicles lighter than 3500 kgs.
My question is about the maximum amount of passengers I am allowed to transport.
Here in the Netherlands the maximum amount of passengers for a B-drivers licence, is 8 persons (driver not included). This means that the vehicle I am allowed to drive, may not have more than 9 seats.
If I would like to rent a car in Florida, I can rent a van with a passenger capacity up to 15, which is allowed for person with a "normal" American drivers licence (E-class).
My question: Is it allowed for a foreigner with a foreign (Dutch, in this case) driver's licence, to drive a 15 person van, while his (or hers) original licence only permits to carry up 8 passengers (in his or hers own country)?
Regards,
Fred
