Zou me niet verbazen dat de Happy Meal characters gewoon blijven, ik denk dat dat hele andere afspraken zijn.
Overigens had je in het verleden op verschillende plekken kleine McDonald 'stands'; ik kan me ze herinneren in Magic Kingdom, Epcot en DHS. In Animal Kingdom was er een heel McDonald restaurant; niet van de buitenkant maar wel van binnen. Die zijn allemaal al een tijdje weg volgens mij.

Dairy Queen.....toen ik 30 (!) jaar geleden voor 't eerst in Amerika was, heb ik daar vaak met mijn opa ijs gegeten. Wat was die man daar toch gek op. Nooit meer aan die Dairy Queen gedacht, totdat we in 2008 in Florida waren en ik het mij toen ineens weer herinnerde. Het ijs is nog altijd even lekker :razz:

Maarja, heb ook geen kids en kom misschien eens in de 4, 5 maanden bij de McDonalds. Mij te duur voor wat je krijgt. Het is dat mn vriendin er wel eens wat wil halen, anders kwam ik er helemaal niet. :)
Ik weet nog wel dat in we 2008 McDonaldfrietjes kregen in één van de parken, ik dacht AK maar pin me er niet op vast. Gewoon van zo'n karretje ergens langs de weg, frietjes zaten in een Macdoosje en frisdrank ook in een Macbeker. Dat verdwijnt nu dus ook?

The 35th Festival of the Masters will be held this friday through Sunday at Downtown Disney. The open-air art festival will feature nearly 150 award-winning artists and more.
Showcasing one-of-a-kind and limited edition painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry and more, this prestigious show is ranked among the country’s finest outdoor art festivals. There’s a lot more to enjoy, too, like amazing chalk art, live music, specialty foods and family-friendly activities.
One exciting feature for video game fans will be the first opportunity to play the soon to be released Epic Mickey game for the Nintendo Wii. The game will be featured in two large exhibit tents.
Rainforest Café will be showing off tropical macaw birds and will have a children’s activity exhibit. As they have before, the Basin store in the Marketplace will have a sculptor carving a 250-pound bar of soap into Mickey Mouse.
Fun Fact: When Festival of the Masters started in 1975, it was called Art Fest
in the Village. Downtown Disney was then called Disney Village. The name was changed to Festival of the Masters in 1979.

Goeie tip Remco, dit hadden we anders niet geweten! Als het even kan, nemen we een kijkje, hoewel we uit principe in het weekend DTD eigenlijk liever mijden. Tenzij er iets leuks te zien is....Ga je zelf ook kijken?
Helaas kan ik niet mee deze ronde, ik heb het te druk op het werk.
Mijn vrouw gaat met haar vriendin lekker een weekje uitrusten, en ik was ook al in september geweest om te klussen, vandaar.
Maar die meiden (40'ers) gaan er zeker naar toe.
En aangezien ik het heel leuk zou vinden op daar te kijken heb het hier op het forum gezet, ik weet dat er een paar forummers nu in Florida zitten :-)

Is disney downtown en village hetzelfde??
Volgens mij is Disney Village de benaming in Parijs en Downtown Disney in Orlando. Het lijkt op elkaar, een straat met winkels en restaurants. Die in Orlando is wel groter en heeft meer te bieden.
Gratis parkeren! We hebben ons prima vermaakt daar. Het is ook leuk om een kijkje te gaan nemen bij Disney Boardwalk, ook gratis.
Persoonlijk zou ik wíllen dat Downtown hetzelfde was als de Village!
Downtown is netter, ruimer, schoner en véél uitgebreider. Het is wel gaaf dat de Village binnenkort ook de World of Disney krijgt.

De entree en het parkeren is gratis. Maar van al die leuke winkeltjes wordt je wel hebberig :) Zeker bij World of Disney!
Wij doen meestal de eerste dag even Downtown disney... (en daarna ook nog een paar keer). Gewoon inderdaad om even sfeer te proeven, ergens een lekker broodje te eten (Earl of Sandwich). Inmiddels hebben we er ook een traditie van gemaakt om de laatste avond in DTD te gaan eten. Eerste 2x bij Wolfgang Puck en laatste keer bij Bongos.
Boardwalk is inderdaad ook gezellig om een keer te bekijken, wij hebben er naar het vuurwerk van Epcot gekeken op 4 juli.
Afgelopen zaterdag voor het eerst in Downtown Disney rondgelopen, voorafgaand aan de show van Cirque du Soleil. Wat een gezellige drukte, leuke bandjes en uiteraard veel Disney merchandise. We hebben een hapje gegeten bij de house of blues, en hoewel het iets prijziger was dan we gewend waren, vonden we het prima.
Wij hebben net een paar keer rondgelopen in Disney Village, maar nee, het is het toch niet echt hoor. Wat een verschil in sfeer met Downtown Disney.
Wij waren helemaal gek van de ambiance op de boardwalk, al iemand naar de piano bar of discotheek daar geweest?
Sinds kort is er gratis Wi-Fi beschikbaar in Downtown Disney. Sommige delen van Downtown Disney hebben nog traag/geen Wi-Fi, dit wordt door de imagineers nog verholpen.

Wat erg leuk is met kinderen is Rain Forest café. Mooie aquaria en om de zoveel tijd onweert het er en er staan allerlei wilde beesten, het eten is niet goedkoop maar het is een leuke belevenis.

Ben inmiddels 3 keer naar La Nouba geweest en vond het geweldig, zeker ook voor kinderen!

Onze dochter was bijna 5 toen we in 2011 naar La Nouba gingen, en ze vond het geweldig. (en wij ook trouwens:) )

* Two parking garages will be constructed, one on the Marketplace side, and one on the West Side near Cirque du Soleil. This will free up space taken by the existing ground level parking to be used for new restaurants and shops.
* World of Disney will be expanded.
* Many new restaurants and shops will be added as part of the expansion, with most being new to the Orlando area. No specific vendors have been confirmed so far.
* A walkway bridge will be constructed from the Rainforest Cafe to the TREX area to improve guest flow.
* Captain Jacks Restaurant will be closing, but all cast will be relocated to other restaurants.

Here we go again. After the abandoned Hyperion Wharf plans that were supposed to revitalize Pleasure Island, Disney is once again attempting to breathe new life into the area. This time, however, the plans detail a much, much larger scope, which will give virtually the entire Downtown Disney district a much needed facelift.
The project has been dubbed “The BVD Corridor Stormwater Project” and phase I of the plans were filed with the SFWMD yesterday. Phase I simply consists of the necessary groundwater infrastructure changes to facilitate the expansion of Downtown Disney. To quote the letter filed with the plans “The BVD Corridor Stormwater Project allows the master planning of an existing 269.11 acre mixed use parcel.”
The next phase of the plans is where it gets interesting. The Downtown Disney area as a whole will be re-branded into “Disney Springs”, which encompasses six distinct neighborhoods: The Gateway, The Town Center, The Springs, The Landing, The West Side, and The Village Marketplace. Each neighborhood will have its own distinct look and feel, described briefly below.
The Gateway, as you probably could have guessed, will be the main access point into Disney Springs. Its main goal is to improve the current parking woes and traffic nightmare Downtown Disney faces during peak seasons. The biggest addition to The Gateway will be a five level parking garage that will sit roughly where the current parking lots C and D are. Parking lots A-H will be removed to support the necessary infrastructure for the new garage, as well as a new, larger bus drop-off and pick-up area.
After The Gateway you’ll encounter The Town Center, located on what will have been parking lots E-G. The Town Center will be a busy area featuring many new retail establishments. Following The Town Center you’ll arrive in The Springs, a peaceful, relaxing area along the waterway that runs between it and the former Pleasure Island. Cross one of the new bridges, and you’ll end up in The Landing, full of dining and drinking options and offering nice views of Village Lake. Here you can expect to see several new restaurants and retail locations, as well as a new amphitheater by the water’s edge, next to Paradiso 37.
The West Side and The Village Marketplace will remain virtually the same as their current state, with a few small additions. On The West Side, the most notable changes include Planet Hollywood being turned into something called ‘The Observatory’ and losing its surrounding body of water, and a new Starbucks location replacing the current Wetzel’s Pretzels. An overhead railway (for thematic purposes only) will also run above the main stretch of path from Disney Quest down to the new Starbucks. Meanwhile, over in The Village Market Place, the former bus drop-off and pick-up area will become home to two new retail buildings, and a new bridge leading to Saratoga Springs will be constructed.
So there you have it, a brief overview of Disney Springs, the future of Downtown Disney. Below I’ve included a colored and labeled overlay of what the proposed plans will transform the area into. It’s definitely a massive project, and one that will likely create its fair share of headaches during construction. But overall, it looks to be a worthwhile addition to Walt Disney World, and hopefully one that will solve some of the current issues and criticisms that Downtown Disney faces.

Answering common questions about Disney Springs:
1. Construction begins April 2013, to be completed by 2016.
2. Very few venues will be changing. Captain Jack's is confirmed to be closing. Planet Hollywood is likely to change. The rest of the big stores/restaurants (DisneyQuest, AMC, World of Disney, Rainforest Cafe, etc.) are staying.
3. The number of venues will roughly be doubled. They are adding to Downtown Disney / Disney Springs, not taking away.
4. Two parking garages will be built, freeing up land for new stores, restaurants, and walkways. Parking will still be free.
5. Hyperion Wharf was remade into this project. Disney felt they could create something better than what was previously announced.
