AIRSHOW
An Aerial Salute to 50 Years in Space
Saturday, Nov 3- 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

Space Flight and flight training have deep roots that originate with military aviators. World Space Expo will highlight these roots and the rich cooperation between the military and NASA with a special Air Show that celebrates 50 years in space and the 60th Anniversary of the Air Force. The Aerial Salute will take place on NASA Causeway overlooking the Banana River and will include the following aerial demonstrations:
KSCVC guests will be transported to the NASA Causeway for the air show. The air show that will be flown will be the same both days.
- U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Aerial Demonstration Squadron
- U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor
- U.S. Navy F-18 Super Hornet
- U.S. Air Force F-15 Eagle
- U.S. Air Force 920th Rescue Wing, Responsible for Mercury and Gemini capsule recovery
- U.S. Army Golden Knights
- P-51 Mustang Heritage Flight
Commercial Space Pavilion/Human Exploration PavilionThis pavilion on the Rocket Garden lawn features the leaders in the new frontier of Commercial Space. The exhibition is sponsored by Space Florida. Exhibitors include SpaceX, the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Commercial Transportation, the X-Prize Foundation; featuring a full scale model of Space Ship One.
The Human Exploration pavilion will house exhibitors like Boeing, Wyle Labs and will focus on their efforts to expand the reach of human spaceflight.
NASA Pavillion
Located in the Rocket Garden within a 85-foot diameter round pavilion structure provided by BMW Confirmed exhibitors include NASA’s touring 50th anniversary exhibit, provided by NASA Headquarters, an aerospace design art exhibit, also produced by NASA Headquarters, and a specially produced interpretive exhibit dedicated to celebrating NASA’s heritage and relevance, produced by Kennedy Space Center with assistance from the other nine NASA Centers. In addition, NASA’s international partners have also been invited to exhibit. Confirmed is an historic Vostok capsule, Russia’s first habitable spacecraft, flown in the early 1960s.
World Space Amphitheater
Featuring a 12 by 9-foot outdoor television screen, stage and sound, this facility will feature a full schedule of activities. Speakers, educational programming and weather balloon releases featuring live video feeds from the edge of space will be offered on a schedule,. Speakers include: Peter Diamandis (X-Prize and Zero G), Patty Smith (FAA associate administrator) Eileen Collins, Scott Carpenter, Anousheh Ansari (private space explorer) and Air Force Thunderbird pilots. Many others from industry and government have been invited. The amphitheater is located on the Rocket Garden lawn.
Astronauts John Glenn and Scott Carpenter will also be honored on this stage in recognition of the 45th Anniversary of the Mercury Program.
Science on a Sphere
The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administrations “Science on a Sphere” will allow attendees (students and the general public) to examine the planets and moons of our solar system and learn how space technology can aid in meteorological sciences such as hurricane prediction and global weather trends.
Vostok Exhibit
Artifacts of the early Soviet Union space program, featuring a flown Vostok capsule, which flew in 1961with the dog, Zvezdochka, 18 days before Yuri Gargarin flew. Probable location: Early Space Exploration Exhibit
